It's a rainy night. A dirt path runs through a cemetery. There are gravestones, trees with Spanish moss (called "long moss" in this world), and a nearby mortuary.
SPLSH! A child's bare foot splatters some mud as she runs along the dirt path.
Knell, an 8-year-old girl with black, shoulder-length hair, blue eyes, and pale skin, who is also currently soaking wet, continues to run along the path, looking back in fear at some unknown threat. She's wearing a short-sleeved dress that stops above her knees, as well as leggings, and has small bruises on her face and arm.
