Locations
New locations may be added in time, and currently anything is subject to change, including the names.
The planet in Knell is also simply known as Earth, but it is indeed different from ours. The planet consists of two large continents and other, smaller islands, but most of the story will focus on one town: Far Water.
I’ll also likely not cover every location in the world, just the most important ones.
Eden – “The Bright Lands”
A continent lying to the west of Brenen, across the ocean. While considerably smaller than Brenen, it’s supposedly a blessed land where many powerful mystics reside, granting miracles unto it’s citizens. The “exiled” people of the east are not allowed to set foot upon it’s land, and it’s high walls keep it a mystery.
Brenen – “The Toils”, “The Land of the Exiled”
A large continent with a population consisting mostly of people who can’t wield magic, and those few who can are usually practitioners of limited ability. More powerful mystics are rare, as it’s suspected that many that are born in Brenen are quickly saught after and whisked away to Eden by the mysterious Fold. While there are cities that are larger and more prosperous than others (especially in the north), Brenen is mostly known for it’s people living off the land. A place where the citizens rely mostly on each other, but many pray for miracles from the Bright Lands.
⦁ The Viridian
A chain of regions that lies in the southern section of Brenen. It’s made up of plains, mountains, forests, and wetlands, and is known for it’s farmers and other working class. Many of the people have accents akin to a Southern USA accent, but in the setting it’s simply called a Viridian accent.
⦁ ⦁ Far Water
Where the story of Knell takes place. An isolated town in the Viridian that sits beside a large river. It’s citizens get by on their knowledge of the land and with the help of neighboring farms and towns, but with it’s swamps, vicious knuckers, and dilapidated areas, it’s not a saught after place to live in. It has exports such as fish, fungi, plants, herbs, their famous “sop spuds” (potato-like tubers), and hides of creatures that are all exclusive to the area’s surrounding wetlands and forests.
