Chapter 2, Page 1: Softie
…It’s time to play Ninja?
I was seriously distracted when I was working on this page, so it could be better, but it’s mostly okay I guess.
And we’re back and into a new year and a new chapter! Thank you for your patience, all.

A shot from above of the mortuary building with surrounding graves in the cemetery. A lightwing flies by.
Gates (from inside the building): Sounds like you had a long night.
We see Gates and Devere inside the mortuary, now both with black bandana-like masks on. Gates' mask is up over his nose and mouth, but Devere is still finishing putting his on. Gates' arms are crossed.
Gates: But at least she didn't die on ya. Ya don't really get used to treatin' kids in this work.
A closeup of Devere contemplating the events of the previous night and morning. He looks a bit worried. His fingers now sit on the front of the bunched up mask around his neck after finishing putting it on.
Devere: She better keep out of trouble. Somethin' felt... off about her behavior.
Devere pulls his mask up over his nose and mouth as Gates looks at him.
Gates: Probably just scared of ya.
Devere: That's what I thought at first, but... I dunno.
Gates nudges Devere with his elbow playfully.
Gates: Well, look at you! Actin' like a regular ol' concerned softie.
Devere looks less than impressed.
Devere: Tch.
